1. WAA-YU [Vayu] (Inspired by the Wind)

 

“Wind is the nature that makes us feel alive, even though it cannot be seen with the naked eye. Similarly, a comfortable and peaceful home is sensed by its inhabitants, even if its source is unseen.”

The “WAA-YU” mat is inspired by the movement of the wind. We combined this inspiration with the search for new possibilities in traditional Thai weaving, utilizing the delicate “Mudmee” (Ikat) dyeing technique. By rhythmically dyeing yarn clusters, Mat-er adapted this unique technique to create a new, contemporary mat pattern. It features graphic, layered lines of varying thickness and thinness, symbolizing the passing wind, creating a vibrant pattern and color palette, all while perfectly preserving the “roots” of our Thai wisdom and culture.

2. THA-RA (Inspired by Water)

 

Inspired by the fluidity of water, this mat uses the “Lai Nam Lai” (Flowing Water Pattern) weaving technique to create graceful patterns that convey movement, tranquility, and serenity. The Lai Nam Lai weave utilizes alternating weft threads of different colors to interlock and form unique, flowing designs.

3. PAT-TA-PII [Pattapii] (Inspired by the Earth)

 

Inspired by the Earth/Soil, the fundamental foundation of life. We believe that creating a pleasant home is like building a solid foundation for life. The Pat-ta-pii pattern reflects the beauty of the earth and nature through designs that convey the simplicity and tranquility of the land.
